- PATRICIA
Alexander the Great is touted as one of the greatest military minds that ever lived. The assassination of his father saw him quickly and firmly take to the throne of the ancient Greek kingdom of Macedon. He was only 20 years old. Within a decade, he had built the greatest empire ever seen in history.Â
An alumnus of Aristotle, he was well schooled in philosophy amongst other subjects. His guiding principles may well have been foundational to his monumental achievements, forever earning him an undeniable place in history. He was a brilliant and an ardent thinker. He once said, ‘You shall, I question not, find a way to the top if you diligently seek for it; for nature hath placed nothing so high that it is out of the reach of industry and valor.’ There is nothing impossible to him who will try. His mind was of an unflinching resolve. Â
Alexander died when he was just a few days shy of his 33rd birthday. Prior to his death, he had planned more invasion campaigns in a mission to further enlarge his empire. He had an insatiable appetite for victory. He was never defeated in battle.Â
Centuries later Julius Caesar of the Roman Empire visited Alexander’s resting place. Caesar wept. Aged around 50 years at the time, he was deeply disappointed that he had not come close to attaining even half of the magnitude of Alexander’s achievements. Yet Caesar was considered a legend in his own right. Patricia might as well leave similar reactions in her wake.Â
